A team of research scientists from the University of Surrey are taking part in the Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge (24 June) to raise money for a local charity, The Prostate Project.
Funding from the charity is currently supporting a number of research projects, including a large-scale investigation into the disparities in survival rates of prostate cancer patients of different ethnicities, identifying unique diagnostic biomarker panel and developing new treatments for early and advanced forms of prostate cancer, including neuroendocrine prostate cancer.
Dr Nicola Annels, Senior Research Fellow at the University of Surrey, said:
“The support we have received from The Prostate Project over the last 17 years has been invaluable and has accelerated our research into developing more targeted diagnostic tools and therapies for those with cancer. I am proud that by completing this challenge we will be able to give back to the charity and thank them for their belief in us to deliver cutting edge research into this devastating disease.”
