When Harry Elson contacted us this summer to tell us he had written a book about his road through prostate cancer and wanted to donate profits from the sale to the Prostate Project, we were delighted!
For anyone who has had family or friends diagnosed with this silent killer, many of the words will sound familiar. Harry has been under treatment for stage four prostate cancer for three years at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and says he is receiving fantastic support.
Harry told us: “Because of the effect this disease on me and my family and friends I decided to write an in-depth account of my journey. I wanted to stress the importance of early and ongoing PSA testing and the insistence that GPs act on the results while taking account of family history – my own fate could have been quite different if my GP had done so.
I have included accounts from close friends who have also been diagnosed and shown the difference in diagnoses and treatments”.
It’s a wonderful and touching read, full of incredibly helpful information for anyone, including their family and friends, who is going through prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. We cant thank Harry enough for helping to raise awareness and for his support.
