Thanks to PP patron and MD of Hogs Back Brewery, Rupert Thompson, we were invited to participate in the annual ‘Hop Fest’ weekend of celebrations.
To say that the event went extremely well is an understatement, and despite the terrible weather on the Sunday, the crowds were out in force to enjoy live entertainment, family activities and of course, some absolutely delicious beer.
Once again, our highly visible presence at a major social event lead to a great many questions and conversations about the Prostate Project, and perhaps even more importantly the whole issue of prostate cancer, its treatment and detection. This only highlights just how valuable The Man Van, our mobile PSA Blood Testing Clinic that you have helped to buy, will be in getting the word out about the need for men to “Get Tested”.
More than a dozen PP volunteers helped over the weekend, carrying collection buckets for cash donations, helping on the horse drawn dray rides, and generally rolling their sleeves up to help the cause.
I cannot thank them enough for their efforts.
In addition to the amount of awareness and goodwill that we were able to raise, we also managed to collect over £2,500.00, thanks to the generosity of festival goers, and of course the wonderful Hogs Back Brewery.
