Black men are more than twice as likely to develop prostate cancer than white men, black men are more likely to develop prostate cancer at an earlier age, and most tellingly of all, the death rate among black men is double that of their white counterparts.

  • Twice as likely
  • Earlier development
  • Double the death rate

Those are the stark facts that tell us all too clearly, that it is vital for black men over the age of 45 to have a PSA Blood Test.

So, let’s dispel the rumours about the test.

It is a simple blood test, taken from the arm. There are no ‘fingers’ involved, so please forget all the ‘old wives tales’ and 1970’s style jokes about Marigold gloves…it is a simple blood test, and every man in the UK is entitled to get one, free of charge at their GP Surgery or clinic.

Here at the Prostate Project we are lucky enough to have a wonderfully high profile Patron, somebody that is known and respected throughout the music industry and beyond.

Les Spaine worked with so many international artists during his time at Motown Records that his CV reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of the pop world, Diana Ross, David Bowie, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder have all benefited from Les’ production skills.

When Les speaks, people in the music business listen, so when he offered to provide the voice over for our animation aimed at black men, we were of course, absolutely delighted.

You can see the animation here:

but if you do watch it, please share it on your social media platforms, send it to friends and family, and help us get the message across.

It’s simple enough…Just Get Tested!

Thanks for reading this, watching the animation and sharing it far and wide, with your help we can reduce cases of prostate cancer and save lots of lives.
