It is no exaggeration to say that the support we receive from Golf Clubs is invaluable to our cause, and in acknowledging this fact, we would like to take this opportunity to thank not only the clubs, but also the wider golfing community, and our sponsors.

We are of course fortunate to have so many wonderful courses on our doorstep, and to have a patron like Jackie Alliss, who with her late husband Peter opened so many clubhouse doors for us. Jackie continues to be an active supporter of the Prostate Project, and organises a pro-celebrity event every year on our behalf.

Then there are the club captains that choose us as their charity of the year, great people that are far too numerous to mention by name, and the businesses that add extra money to our coffers by sponsoring a hole, providing a raffle prize, or putting up a motor car for a hole in one.

For more than 25 years we have been enjoying the support of teams, individuals, clubs, businesses and well-wishers, and together we have saved, and prolonged the lives of a great many men that would have been lost to prostate cancer.

We can say with some confidence that not one of these businesses or individuals would ask, or expect anything in return for their support, but here we must disagree.

There should be a Quid Pro Quo, a balancing of the books, and a show of gratitude and respect.

This is why we write personally to every person that makes a donation, why we mention our sponsors on social media, and why we include write-ups of events in our regular communications. In fact, we have been doing just this for over 25 years, as you can see by having a quick look at our newsletter archive.

A Golf Day is a great opportunity to raise funds, and have fun, it is also a perfect opportunity to fly the flag for the Prostate Project and raise awareness of our ‘Get Tested’ message. Recent Golf Days have also become a popular time and place for men to have a PSA Blood Test, with dozens rolling up their sleeves at most events.

We take nothing for granted, and we are proud to share our stories of support, because at the end of the day, we can’t do what we do without help, and we truly appreciate the help that we receive from Golf Clubs, and Golf Societies around Surrey, and beyond.

Thank you.
