Giving Men a Better Chance of Beating Prostate Cancer
We pride ourselves on being run almost entirely by volunteers and on keeping administration costs below 5%, meaning nearly all your donation goes directly to the point of need. Based at the Stokes Centre for Urology at Royal Surrey County Hospital, our aims are quite simple.
Since 1998, we have been raising awareness and funds to help save and prolong the lives of men with prostate cancer.
This website will show how we go about our work, supporting ground-breaking cancer research and providing some of the equipment that has made Surrey into one of the world’s finest centres for the treatment, and research into urological cancers.
Thanks to you, we’ve raised £200k and purchased a brand new Mobile PSA Testing Clinic (‘Man Van’)
Arranging a PSA Blood Test
Thank you for taking the positive step towards arranging a PSA Blood Test for yourself, or a loved one. Caught early, Prostate Cancer is usually curable. PSA blood tests are used to help detect prostate cancer.
The Prostate Project’s Man Van will be at events in Surrey and across the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust catchment area, helping to save and prolong the lives of men by providing access to PSA tests. You can read more about the Van and our appeal here: manvan
We are currently working hard with our partners to ensure as many men over the age of 50 will have access to a PSA Test, arranging a testing schedule and choosing locations in Surrey for the Man Van to visit.
In the meantime, you can book a PSA test via the Cancer Testing South website. Alternatively, you can contact your GP or primary health provider and ask for a free PSA Blood Test
As Prostate Cancer often has no symptoms in its early stages, so for men aged 50+, family history and black, the PSA Test is a life-saving indicator that things might not be right, and the sooner you, or a loved one, gets tested the better.
Caught early, Prostate Cancer is treatable and manageable, so well done on taking the first step.
